Keratin treatment: what it is and which one is best for your hair

What is keratin treatment?
Keratin is a protein that our body generates. However, it produces very little quantity. It is an asset that our hair needs to look healthy, strong and shiny; So by using products or treatments that have this ingredient as the main ingredient in their base, it will help your hair look repaired and nourished from roots to ends.

On the other hand, the main function of keratin treatment is to repair hair fibers and nourish it from the roots, giving it a regenerated appearance. It also protects it from external agents, such as irons, dryers, chlorine from swimming pools, sea salt or sun exposure.

What types of keratin exist?
There are several types of keratin that you can choose as a treatment depending on your hair type. The most common are the ones we show you below. Take note!

Alpha keratin. It is the most common of all treatments. It contains cysteine, an amino acid that acts on the keratin protein and makes the hair more resistant and rigid, eliminates curl and softens the hair.
Beta keratin. It is a type of keratin that gives a less rigid straightening effect and lasts less time than alpha-keratin. By leaving the hair more manageable, the finish is usually more natural and not so straight.
Hydrolyzed keratin. It works as a regenerating and restoring treatment for hair fibers by softening them, penetrating directly into the cuticle and reducing the appearance of split ends.
Brazilian straightening with keratin. Brazilian straightening is also very well known. It is ideal for those more rebellious and curly hair, achieving with this treatment a much softer, nourished and smoother hair.
Keratin without formaldehyde. This type of keratin is 100% natural as it does not contain formaldehyde, a toxic substance prohibited in many aesthetic treatments. With this type of keratin, hair will be much healthier.
